Stay Safe, Call the Experts
As convenient as it might be to complete small electrical jobs yourself around the home to save money or time, it can be deadly.
It’s not only illegal to do so, but your efforts could cause you an electrical shock, either today or down the track to someone else, and it does happen.
We are often called out to a residential home only to find dodgy wiring is the cause of the problem.
Always play it safe and call a registered electrician like Savelect; we will do the job the right way the first time, ensuring the safety of you and your family for years to come.
Electrical Components In Your Home You Should Know About
Safety Switches (RCD's)
Unlike a circuit breaker, an RCD safety switch is designed to protect people and their pets inside the home.
An RCD also located in your switchboard monitors the current and will detect an imbalance such as a fault or accident, immediately cutting off power.
RCD’s are proven to save lives, and since 1992 are compulsory in homes built after 1992 and within rental properties before a tenant can move in. Safety switch laws are different between states but can come with harsh penalties for landlords.
If you are unsure about safety switch compliance in your property, call us today.
House fires are not only devastating and tragic, but they are in most cases avoidable with the correct installation of suitable smoke alarms.
On January 1st 2017, the QLD Government made it law that every new or renovated home has to have smoke detectors installed within all habitable rooms, including hallways.
If you need help getting your home or rental property up to the required standards regarding smoke alarm legislation, we can help.
Your switchboard is the metal box attached to the front of your house and where the circuits meet together in one place.
If a circuit trips, such as your lighting, you can find the respective switch inside the switchboard and turn it back on. If it keeps happening, the problem could be the switchboard itself due to extra loading added over the years or simply old age.
Switchboard fires are common but also dangerous. If you suspect an issue or are planning on installing additional items, we can inspect your existing switchboard, diagnose and fix any problems or provide you with recommended solutions.
Whether it’s a compliance or safety issue, or you wish to have some general electrical work completed on your next project, we are here for you.
We have the skills and tools to suit all residential electrical jobs, both inside and outside your home. We always guarantee the quality of work, and importantly we will communicate with you every step, so you know what something may cost, the start and complete times.
